Presenting the Kahlo Piano Quartet

The international-prizewinning Kahlo Piano Quartet make their Drogheda debut with a stunning programme of music. The Irish/French/German musicians, living in Austria, Germany and Spain are a truly European ensemble. Irish violinist, David Tobin is joined by section leaders from the Vienna Philharmonic and Madrid’s ORCAM for two of the greatest works from the piano quartet repertoire by Chausson and Brahms. Full of passion and beautiful melodies, they represent the best of French and German romanticism. Lili Boulanger’s energetic and nimble D’un matin de printemps also features.

Our artists

KAHLO QUARTET

The Kahlo Quartet is made up of young, award-winning musicians from Germany, France and Ireland, and has already proven to be one of the most interesting and up-and-coming piano quartets of its generation.

In 2021 the Kahlo Quartet was awarded a Gold medal with high distinction at the Vienna International Music Competition.

Marie Rosa Günter, David Tobin, Benjamin Beck and Stanislas Kim combine lively and spontaneous music-making with well-thought-out and accurate interpretations. Their exciting programming, from standard classical repertoire to new arrangements, conveys an innovative approach to transmitting music to audiences.

The musicians can draw on experiences as soloists with orchestra, in venues such as Carnegie Hall, and chamber music performances with renowned musicians, including the widely-acclaimed Midori. They have led sections in some of the world’s best orchestras, taught at Germany’s leading conservatories, and are prizewinners at various international competitions, including the Enescu Competition.
