A re-imagined series of concerts

Drogheda Classical Music is delighted to present a re-imagined series of concerts this autumn in St Peter’s Church of Ireland. Our major plans have been postponed until it is safe to return to larger groupings of musicians and audiences. For now, we are planning to present four concerts from September to December, each giving an opportunity to experience exceptional chamber music by some of our leading Irish and Irish-based musicians. On Thurs 24 September 2020 at 7:30pm, pianist Barry Douglas will be joined by the Esposito Quartet for a performance of Brahms’ epic Piano Quintet, one of the towering creations in Brahms’s catalogue — indeed, in all of music. Few works rival its masterful mingling of moods: majesty, serenity, tension, foreboding, anger, out-and-out joy. The concert will be approximately 45 mins in duration, without an interval
Numbers will be limited to approximately 40 people. Tickets cost €20 and seating is not allocated. Tickets booked must be booked in advance from Droichead Arts Centre on 041 9833946. All health guidelines will be strictly enforced. Social distancing for the small number will be straightforward. Masks to be worn during the performance. The Series reserves the right to cancel at the last minute, should the Covid 19 regulations change.
For those unable to attend, it will be streamed via Vimeo and available to watch from Friday 25 September for €10. More information and link to watch will be available from www.droghedaclassicalmusic.com
Drogheda Classical Music is funded by the Arts Council and Louth County Council and run in partnership with Droichead Arts Centre with sponsorship from the d Hotel and RTÉ Supporting the Arts.
